Our client Walsall Council, are looking for an experienced and motivated Team Manager to join the Children’s Social Service team.

Service Area: Children’s Services
Location: Social Services Office
Car Allowance: Essential
Report to: Operational Manager, Children’s Services
Responsible for: Consultant Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, NQSW’s, Trainee Social Workers, Child and Family Support Officers

Salary:
£39.07 per hour

REQUIREMENTS:
Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
Enhanced DBS check
Travel to a variety of locations
Flexibility to work outside of core working hours

EXPERIENCE:

Supervising other social care staff and challenging their practice where necessary.
Determining priorities in the implementation of social service work
Project planning and project delivery
Using IT systems and a range of communication tools
Utilising a range of social work skills at PQ level within a Local Authority or recognised equivalent authority.
Financial management in a social care setting and knowledge of best value principle
Auditing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To ensure the requirements of appropriate child-care legislation and guidance are understood by all members of staff. This should be disseminated during team meetings and supervision periods.
 To contribute to the management of services as a member of the Children’s Service Management team.
To make highly complex decisions relating to social service provision for children, young people and their families within Walsall.
Manage allocation of work in accordance of with priorities, ensuring assessments, care plans, and reviews (including policies) are implemented where required.
Influence and negotiate with partner agencies to ensure that best quality services are provided to children and young people.
To work collaboratively with partner agencies and within the children’s division and in the voluntary sector to ensure multi-agency assessment, planning, interventions and review.
To monitor and review effective workload management, ensuring maintenance of performance management and quality of cases.
To effectively manage delegated budgets allocated to Children’s Services and to ensure
value for money and effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:
It is essential for applicants to have one of the following

– Social work qualification, BA, MA, CQSW, CSS, DipSW,
– Management Qualification i.e. NVQ4 Management,
– Dip Management Studies.
– GSCC Registration
– PQ Consolidation award or evidence of CPD, i.e. practice teachers award, Enabling Others and Empowerment element of PQ consolidation, research based practice
