Our client Walsall Council are looking for Public Health Project Officer.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

General

 

  • Cover in the absence of the Business Support Manager to ensure continuity of service.
  • Assist the Business Support Manager in providing project support including project reporting, logging and follow-up of risks and issues logs, updating project plans, maintain databases and to prepare project highlight reports as and when required for the purpose of business continuity and emergency planning and taking appropriate action where required to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Exercise initiative and demonstrate ability to:
  • Research information
  • Produce powerpoint presentations
  • Compile database records
  • Compile reports
  • Identify gaps, discrepancies and inconsistencies in processes and select the most appropriate avenue for resolution
  • Contribute to the design and development of business processes within own area of expertise
  • Act as an exemplar for junior colleagues in dealing with organisational and cultural changes
  •  Liaison with all contacts will be carried out in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image for the Public Health Service and the organisation.  Contacts will include.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.  This is essential to the post
  • Demonstrates effective written communication and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to use IT software to word process, produce/update spreadsheets and databases, email and access the internet
  • Demonstrates an ability to understand, undertake and record project progression in a recognized format
  • Demonstrates numeracy
  • Demonstrates organisational skills to a high standard and an ability to maintain and contribute to the development of project systems and processes
  • Demonstrates an ability to be sensitive to others and to respect/maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Demonstrates use of a variety of resources to research, interpret and analyse information for the purpose of reports

Experience

  • A qualification in Project Management would be desirable but must demonstrate wide experience in project support over a substantial amount of time and covering a significant variety of duties at a senior level
  • Of co-ordinating staff within a project team setting
  • Of prioritising workload and duties, working to deadlines
  • In dealing with the telephone queries from the public, partners and colleagues in a professional manner and with regard to the need of confidentiality when required
  • Of using Microsoft packages (word, excel etc) to a high level
  • Of continued professional development and the willingness to undertake additional personal development

Qualifications: specify type and level required (including equivalents)

  • Project management
  • Word processing, and other Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint)
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent that show evidence of numeracy and literacy and a high level of understanding of English (written and verbal)
  • Evidence of further development

Salary range: £22,180 – £22,883
