Our client Walsall Council are looking for a Information Analyst.

Main Purpose of the Job Role

  •  To promote and support of effective performance management and evidenced based decision making by working closely with the analysts in identifying, defining and meeting the changing management information, performance monitoring and data needs of the organisation, schools or external customers.
  •  To produce high quality data, analysis and management information for internal and external requirements and quality assurance purposes and to assist with conducting surveys and other data gathering activities.
  • To undertake data quality work including the monitoring and testing of data recorded in systems and working with managers and school staff to identify, analyse and address data quality issues.
  •  To provide system and technical support to internal and external customers to agreed service standards.
  •  To support the Head of Performance Improvement and Quality in delivering Directorate’s contribution to the Council’s Corporate Plan, review and develop internal service plans, development and implementation of the Performance Management Framework and preparation for external inspection.

Specific knowledge requirements
Knowledge of query languages, data extraction and other reporting tools.

Knowledge of relevant IT applications in particular MS Excel.

Knowledge of MOSAIC, ONE, Tribal EIS or ChildView or other systems typically used in local government and schools

Knowledge and skills in at least one area of:
• research and information
• performance management
• data quality and information governance

An understanding of research methodologies and principals

An understanding of data quality and information governance issues

A working knowledge of children’s services including DfE statutory reporting requirements

Experience of working with data and statistical information and undertaking analysis

Experience of identifying and addressing data quality issues

Experience of retrieval and analysis of complex statistical information and presentation in management reports.

Experience of supporting quality assurance processes.

Experience of conducting surveys and analysing results.
