Our client Walsall Council are looking for a Brokerage Officer.

37 hours per week

ASAP start

Main purpose of the job role: 

Be part of a proactive Adult social care commissioned care brokerage team, who will:

  • negotiate directly with care providers in support of service users requiring care services;
  • ensure that service users receive appropriate support in a timely manner and in accordance with the Social Care and Support, Assessment and Care Management process;
  • develop positive relationships with the care providers across the health and social care economy, involving significant time spent communicating and negotiating with the providers to ensure that the service user receives care at the right time and in the right place;
  • operate compliantly within contracted frameworks in the commissioning of  health and social care;
  • provide an effective interface across health and social care teams, advising on contractual and market management issues, with a view to supporting value for money decision making and securing best outcomes for customers.

Knowledge and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly, effectively, accurately and

appropriately to members of the public, senior management and elected Members

Demonstrates integrity and fairness when dealing with customers and other stakeholders

Ability to work autonomously and under pressure

An awareness of and commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity for staff and service users/carers/patients

Is self-motivated, undertaking relevant tasks and activities independently

Copes effectively with work related pressures and challenges

Ability to deliver a service which complies with a data protection legislative requirements

An understanding of the Adult Social Care agenda and localised social care practice, including care management assessment and support planning.

Experience: 

Experience of working in a Health and/or Social Care work environment or equivalent

Evidence of developing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and partners

Advanced IT skills, including the ability to work with multiple information systems and manipulate data with confidence

Advance literacy and numeracy skills

Manages time and prioritises work to maximise productivity and effectiveness

Experience of  making critical decisions with skill

Qualifications: 

Evidence of achievement in higher education study in the arena of social care of health or an alternative equivalent

Previous office experience and suitable qualifications, e.g. NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant field

Evidence of continuous development in a relevant area of work.
